Dinosaurs lived millions of years ago before there were any people. Dinosaurs were one of several kinds of prehistoric reptiles that lived during the "Age of Reptiles." Dinosaurs dominated the Earth for over 165 million years, but for some reason went extinct 65 million years ago. We study their fossil remains to learn about the amazing prehistoric world of dinosaurs.

Some dinosaurs were very large, some were very small. Some walked on two legs, some walked on four. Some were speedy, and some were slow and lumbering. Some ate meat and some ate plants. Some were armor-plated, some had thick, bumpy skin, some had horns and some flew and even had primitive feathers. Dinosaur like monsters even swam in Earth's primitive seas.

We aren’t sure what colors dinosaurs were, what sounds they made, their behavior or how they mated. We don’t even know why they disappeared. But, they are fascinating creatures and fun to read about.
